When architecture meets weaving

Our studio is located on the beautiful island of Lesvos, just opposite of the Asia Minor coast, in the city of Mytilene. It is based in an emblematic building of the city, in the Goutos-Alepoudellis mansion, which has been declared an architectural monument by the Ministry of Culture and is a typical example of a grand urban house of the early 20th century. Visitors can walk around the premises of the building and learn information about the daily life of that time through unique objects, and this is because the original household furniture is preserved almost intact.

In the studio, one can watch the whole process of weaving and wool processing, learn about the different types of looms and finally see the results of various techniques on our creations. In this way, one can be introduced to the painstaking and long-hour procedure of the weaving art, understand the great value of the handmade fabric and finally rediscover the lost and very important relationship between the fabric and human.

It is important that seminary courses are provided to small groups of people, in order to pass on all this knowledge and for all of us to contribute to the preservation of this ancient art.
