In the context of the periodic exhibition “1922”, the Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) is organizing a series of workshops, for adults, from Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Museum of Industrial Olive Production of Lesvos,
Inspired by the kilims hosted in the exhibition and which uniquely narrate their “journey” from Asia Minor to Lesvos, participants will experience the history of wool processing.
In the four meetings of the workshop, creator and collector Argyris Hatzimallis will present historical facts about sheep’s wool as well as its many applications. In addition, the participants will have the opportunity to process and use sheep’s wool from the local herd of Agia Paraskevi, while in the last meeting they will dye the loops of wool they have created with vegetable dyes from onion leaves, Lesbos rice, loquat leaves, etc. . natural materials.
The dates of the cycle in detail: June 7 (hours 16:00 – 18:00), June 8 (hours 11:00 – 13:00), June 14 (hours 16:00 – 18:00) and June 15 (hours 11:00 – 13:00).
